I would say katamari damacy and we love katamari are both the japanese video game equivilant of an acid trip. I am unsure of whether the game is based off an acid trip or was devised during an acid trip, but it is definatly the product of one or more illegal narcotic substances. Now about the game, you are the prince of all the cosmos, your father is the king, during a flight of fancy, the king takes out all the stars in the sky and intrusts the prince(you) to remake them. To do so you get a katamari, a spherical object that is studded with small lumps. I believe Katamari Damacy roughly trnaslates to 'clump of souls' and that is the premise of the game, you go around collecting random stuff and make your katamari bigger. Stuff that you can pick up sticks to your katamari and the more stuff, the bigger you get, the bigger you get, the bigger of stuff you can pick up. All the levels are situated in areas just full of stuff, such as apartments, parks, and towns and cities. Eventually you get bigger, rolling around the katamari with both analog sticks, and you can pick up people and cars and buildings and so on and so forth. The only real obstacles you encounter are animals and objects too big to pick up, that and the time limit. The bigger your katamari by the time the timer ends, the better your score, there is a minimum amount of size to get to in each level. After the level the king goes and makes the ball of stuff into a star or constellation. It kinda is its own genre, but I guess puzzle/adventure/wtf describe it the best. We love katamari is a giant ego trip since the first has become a cult classic, because of the style of everything in it, and style is definatly one way to put it. We love katamari adds a lot of new features but keeps true to the orginal, great game, addictive, and the ability to pick EVERYTHING up makes it just hilarious. My my katamari may be good or may be bad based on the fact that it only is to be controlled with 1 analog stick, but time will tell.
I am looking forward to Tales of Ddestiny 2, Breath of Fire, and Irregualr Hunter X, although I definatly could have fun with the level maker of Rockman Rockman. There is also a rumour that there will be a rerelease of the original command and conquer for psp, neat.
