Dunno if you've got iPhone or iPod touch (if I remember correctly you're the one who's strongly anti-Mac, so I doubt you do), but for jailbroken iPhone's and iPod's, Cydia has a bunch of repos to download programs and utilities just like Linux. I have a site where I get hacked paid Cydia apps for free as well as unreleased betas and such. Instead of connecting up my iPhone to my PC using SSH, I've made my own repo and can just do everything through the iPhone itself. Faster and easier.
Anyway, to get the repo set up there's some packaging you have to do that is only easily done on OSX or Linux, so I've got a VM setup with Ubuntu. Once I get my new lappy in July I'll have a VM for all 3 systems!
