You like him, just in a different way... you know, the "I like you better when you're around your true colors kind of way".

I don't like him at all. I think he's only going to be damaging the states with all his spending. Spending spending spending. Personally, I don't want China covering my medical bills. And I don't want them covering illegal alien's bills as well.

His job approval ratings are starting to fall, and I think they will continue to. Obama is a bag of broken promises and people will begin to see that.

No worse than the last guy we had in the White House that pissed away all the surpluses. Did you dislike him too?

Obama's approval ratings currently hold steady at 54% compared with W's all time low of 25% and he still couldn't get impeached.

Polls are meaningless. I cite this article as proof http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/10/16/hillary-is-more-popular-than-the-boss/

While I agree that the Nobel Peace Prize was undeserved, I think that the healthcare plan would help many Americans who otherwise could get sick and die instead of receiving adequate medical care that does not overcharge. I'm one of the people that the healthcare plan would be helping, considering that I have none as of now, and I don't think that saving lives should be a dishonorable quality, as most people are taking it.

@ silver_dusk

The healthcare debate is an olde one that can be traced back to the days of the revolution.

Truman wanted to include it as a part of his new deal.

Carter tried and failed so did Clinton and now Obama isn't looking like such a popular guy for suggesting it.

The bottom line in the health care debate is that you have 2 sides.

1 side that wants healthcare because they don't have any to speak of, and the other side that is afraid that it will become yet another encroachment of the federal government in peoples private lives. (Most of the people I know that are for the public option have chronic ailments and no affordable coverage.)

My personal concern is that it will become an enormous drain on the tax paying public if a federal option ever was instated.

Yes, but isn't having tax money used for helping people better than having it used for killing people?

By killing people I assume you mean the wars in the middle east. I never wanted a stinking war for 9/11, just a proper investigation. Wars are expensive. It doesn't matter that we will be out of Iraq by next August if all those troops just go to Afghanistan.

Anyhow,

I think your question would be better if you asked "Isn't spending tax money in America better than spending it abroad?".

To which I would say "YES", but let's be smart about how we spend it.

There are many reasons why government run healthcare is such a bad idea and why many people are against it.

Yes, it will give healthcare to those who have none.

But it's going to lower the bar. If you look at countries like Canada and the UK, their healthcare is free but sometime people have to wait a long time to receive treatment. And if you have serious life-threatening illnesses, it's hard to receive proper care. Many Canadians with cancer come to the US because the Canadian government either isn't willing to give proper care or they can't receive it in a timely manner.

Another issue with this bill is it could be used to cover illegal immigrants. No, the bill doesn't say "this covers illegals," but it does have something included that says something to the effect of "people can't be omitted based on country of origin." In my opinion, it needs a big fat clause saying "THIS ONLY APPLIES TO AMERICAN CITIZENS!!!"... and it doesn't.

Do we need healthcare reform? Yes. Is the plan currently on the table good? No. Obama's rushing it, and this is why people are opposed to it.

He's rushing it out the door like Microsoft with their 360's. Soon, our country is going to get the RRoD.
:S

But, on the other hand...
I believe that if the government is ever going to require us to have something, then we must be given an opportunity to get it from the government. I don't think we should be required to get it from them, but there should always be that option.
Think of it this way: If we're required to get car insurance by the government, then companies are going to set the price super high. If we just get it from the government, then they'd do the same thing. If we have both options, they'd compete for a better price and America will get the better deal.
Same thing with this bill.
That's why I think the government should also offer car insurance, too.

Again, do I think that the government is the only source from which we should receive these things? No! We have rights to buy what we want and from who we want.
