What are the pitfalls of using local SIM cards abroad?

When I arrive in another country, I often have to look for a local operator, but sometimes I run into problems: passport control, high prices in tourist areas or complex tariffs. Some SIM cards have internet restrictions or hidden fees. Has anyone encountered such problems, and how can they be avoided so as not to spend extra money?

Buying a local SIM card can be a real hassle: long procedures, passports, high prices at airports and complicated tariffs. To avoid this, I switched to eSIM a long time ago. This is a convenient solution that is connected immediately upon arrival without the need to look for stores. For example, eSIM from Ohayu https://ohayu.com/esim/taiwan-tw/ is a good option that allows you to choose a tariff in advance and activate the connection instantly. This eliminates unnecessary costs and ensures stable Internet without surprises.

Re: What are the pitfalls of using local SIM cards abroad?

I’m a cryptocurrency consultant and often need to travel last-minute. Finding mobile internet that supports crypto payments? That’s not easy—unless you’re using eSIM Plus. The ability to instantly activate a plan, use my crypto wallet to pay, and be online in seconds is exactly the kind of frictionless experience I expect from modern services. I’ve used it across 10+ countries and never had a signal issue. Add to that their multilingual interface and 24/7 support, and it’s easily the most reliable tool in my digital kit. Highly recommended for people who live on the move.
