I just got my quad core, but I'm gonna wait for some reviews before I get it.

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that there's no point trying to stay at the bleeding edge of technology. Nothing justifies the cost...

I'll stick with my Core 2 Duo.

I just read up on the chip a bit... wtf. It's cheap as hell AND is backwards compatible with AM3 and AM2+ mobos...

Kudos to AMD on this release!

Looks alright. I like Intel chips more. If I were to build a computer and had ∞ budget I would totally still get a Intel Core i7-980X :P

I don't think this chip is meant to compete with the i7-980X. That chip is $1000, whereas the new AMD chip is just under $300... AND if you're already running AMD chances are your board will be compatible with a BIOS update.

$300 isn't too bad at all. I wanna wait and see what others who have it have to say. Yeah my asus M4A79T Deluxe
mobo already has support. http://event.asus.com/mb/2010/m4_6cores/

True :P Just heard a few minutes ago on a tech radio show thingy, that it isn't the best. But if its in your budget its good. But one of the i7's somewhere in the 600 or 700 range or something. Which ever one is in the $300 dollar range, it is comparable with those.

The biggest problem is quad-cores still aren't widely coded for, so the turbo-boost tech that intel has on their chips is a way of saying "hey, we have an awesome quad core. but software isn't ready for it, so we'll change it to a dual core for you." Now, a friggin 6 core chip. It's going to be a while before anyone can really use all 6 cores.
