I am planning to upgrade my HDD. Does anyone know if there is a maximum capacity that the PS3 will support?

The PS3 will support drives up to any size in GB however it will only accept the smaller dimension drives, i think the biggest drive that actually fits internally is a 640GB drive, the 1TB drives are physically larger than the others so don't actually fit within the caddy designed to hold the drive in place :)

750 is the top internal but you can mod the enclosure to make it work with 1 tb

If you want to go external, you have a few options.

Cleanest is this http://bit.ly/i32pN8. Will replace the HDD cavity with an outward facing, male, SATA port so you can connect it to a 3.5 drive.

Cheapest would be to grab a male -> female SATA adapter or an SATA cable that has a male connection on one side and a female on the other. It won't be pretty, but going external is the biggest bang for your buck. Plus, you can easily manipulate the files on the drive by connecting the drive to your computer. Some games only work internally, and if your drive is internal you have to use an FTP program to slowly transfer games.

Yeah If I were you I would grab a 2tb there only 100$. But if you do remember you will probley need a hard drive enlosure to power the hard drive since 3.5 needs 12volts and and 2.5 needs 5volts
