Description:
Homebrew coder Akop Karapetyan (aka uberjack) dropped QJ an email awhile ago about his pet application fMSX-PSP. It is actually based on the 3.1 version of the fMSX emulator. If you want to feel more familiar about this one, be informed that QJ.Net Forum staple ZX-81 has a similar application called PSPMSX.
Anyway, uberjack's emulator is currently on v3.1.1. According to him, it should run on any PlayStation Portable (PSP) unit with FW 1.5 in user mode. The program itself uses Graphical Utility Toolkit (GU) for rendering purposes and runs most games at 100% speed.
Take note as well that one frame is skipped when your unit is at 222MHz while no frame at all will be skipped should you set the clock speed at 300MHz. As for the features of fMSX-PSP:
* Three available rendering modes: normal size, 4:3 scaled, 16:9 scaled
* State loading/saving, with a thumbnail icon for each state (up to 10 states per game)
* Controls configurable for a particular game
* Frame limiter, frame skipping, vertical sync, PSP clock frequency adjustment
* Support for two cart slots and two disk drives
* On-screen virtual keyboard
Lastly, the developer would like to know if anyone will have any luck running this on any other firmwares. The download below includes the latest version of the emulator, its source code, as well as the Readme file.
